Today, I wanted to talk to you about something crucial but often overlooked: your email security.

You know how we lock our doors at night? Well, mail security records are like the locks for your emails, keeping the bad stuff out and the good stuff in.

This week, We had a business who reached out to us in a panic, They had recevied a call from a customer stating that they had received a second bill with different account numbers on it…

What! We didn’t send that… But apparently it did come from them, The details were specific and there very much was a problem. So knowing us through a friend, they reached out immediately.
Upon Investigation, we found that they hadn’t been breached, It wasn’t them, but the customer who had been hacked… However the email did still appear to come from them.

That’s where we found the missing mail security records, Without those, ANYBODY can send email from your domain. The mail security records tell everyone else, who is and who isn’t legitimately allowed to send mail as you.

So whilst the customer had the main security issue, it was their lack of mail security records that allowed them to fake the email!

The digital world is always changing, and so are the threats. Regularly updating your mail security records is like giving your business email a health check. It keeps everything running smoothly and keeps the email nasties away.

Google has recently announced a change in security, which will affect all email deliverability
