When you’re trying to run up fraudulent charges, there’s no better person than a dead one, they can’t complain to the bank about the false charges on their card or the personal loan.
Besides the obvious financial fraud angle, criminals are also using the stolen medical records to illegally acquire medical supplies or for health insurance. One of the dark web researchers found criminals explaining to a potential customer how they can use a medical ID to get prescribed drugs delivered to them, to order medication and even to book a doctor’s appointment for a check-up.
I think this should have a great effect on the pending rollout of the mygov records here in Australia because even Governments can be hacked.
